Suggested advice on how to encourage others to succeed

Do you need to encourage others to take on new challenges, perform tasks or simply have a certain way? There are many ways to encourage people around you. The two broadest areas of interest are external and internal motivation.

First look at extrinsic motivation. This type of motivation is based on some external rewards or punishments. An example of extrinsic prize would be: "If you get me this document for lunch, I will give you a little cake." This attempts to lure the man with a promise of something desirable, as it is done that you want them to do.

Then it's the opposite to punish a punishment, if the other person does not do what you want them to do. An example is, "If you do not get me the document at the end of the day, I'll punch you."

You can see how it could be ineffective. While negative external motivation could cause others to do what you want them to do, it also breaks down respect and trust. You can not build a solid, long-term relationship based on threats or the feeling that you will be punished for punishment if you do not do what anyone else wants you to do. Negative motivation based on the threat of violence is particularly harmful.

Let's look at your own initiative. This calls for people to take action because they themselves choose to do so. Intrinsic encourage wells from deep within human beings and does not depend on any external reward or punishment.

Of course, this kind of motivation is very powerful. And it's also much harder to achieve. It takes time to build trust and respect. Even then there is no guarantee that others will be activated to do what you want. That's all the team. The other has a choice and command. How do people really encourage people? Give them more choice and control!

Here are some tips to help inspire others by their very nature:

  • Make them feel good about what you need to do.
  • Provide clear, clear instructions. Do not assume they will know what to do.
  • Give them a manageable challenge.
  • Give them control and choice.
  • Create an environment of trust and respect.
  • Take a cooperative attitude. Help, but do not do it for them. Let them know that they help you by doing what you need them to do (on time).
  • Do not compare them to anyone else.
  • Minimize external interests. Let them know that there is no salary unless doing the right thing.
  • Offer praise when it's due.
  • Focus on their strengths, talents and talents.
  • Encouraging others in this way implies them, not you. Stop thinking about what you want or need, and start thinking about what others want and need. Knowing the other person to maintain automation will help you build a good relationship in the long run.
