What is the average reading rate and the best rate of reading?

The average reading rate of a child in elementary school is about 200 words per minute (wpm). By the time we reach adulthood, it has not improved significantly, because most adults read an average of 200-250 wpm. While understanding this rate is considered reasonable, it will be difficult to read a large amount of information in a short period of time at 250 vpm.

Some individuals claim to read over 10,000 wpm or even 25,000 wpm and say they can still understand everything they have read. Even if such individuals can get a price like this, there is a speed of 1000-10000 wpm speed that contestants read at the World Cup. Therefore, if your average reading rate comes somewhere close to this ratio, you may consider yourself doing wonderfully well. Do not you think you have to reach the championship level to study your learning and reading goals? It's up to everyone to decide how far to push the maximum speed!

For those who are interested in increasing their abilities, the goal is 500-800 wpm great goal. At this point you can get through a large amount of work in a short period of time and maintain an understanding of 75% or more. This is a great understanding and probably more than adequate for any of your essential purposes. Compare this to the average size of adults (200 – 250 wpm), as their understanding is only half or more of the content they have read.

800-1000 wpm would be a great achievement. In order to reach this level, an individual has been able to invest in great pace and practice training. Believe it or not, understanding of this level is also excellent, almost 100% or very close to 100%.

Results 100 – 200 wpm are considered essential. In adults, this is among average rates, but for children aged 6 to 12 it can be considered averaged. Only a little understanding is achieved at this rate. The adult reading this speed will be amazed at what some of the simple methods will do for his reading speed. Reading at any rate below 100 wpm will probably read by someone who is still learning to read or maybe someone who is reading in another or third language. At this stage, understanding becomes difficult.
